Joe Aparo Counsellor PgDip MBACP
Hello and welcome to my website.
I am a male, experienced, fully qualified counsellor and offer a free first session, with no obligation on you to continue. I have consulting rooms in both Brighton BN1 and Hove BN3.
I aim to provide acceptance, empathy, warmth and understanding. I offer a place where you will not be judged and your trust kept in the strictest confidence. This will be true no matter what issues you choose to bring.
I like to work informally and collaboratively to help you with your problems and issues so that together we can find a way through them. My strengths are: warmth, patience, kindness and a very good sense of humour - when appropriate.
I believe that any of us can find ourselves in difficult situations where, for many reasons, life can become a struggle, or hard to bear alone. I provide humanistic counselling therapy from a person-centred theoretical basis. Person-centred counselling works from the belief system that we have, at our core, the need or drive to develop, change and improve as best we can. I firmly believe that given the right circumstances a person can fulfil any number of their possibilities in life.
Counselling offers a safe, confidential, environment for you to change and grow but also to come to terms with and find acceptance of parts of yourself or your life that you may not like. I would very much like to be able to help you in this.
I am also a fully trained mediation practitioner and can offer my services, using person-centred principles, to commercial, workplace and private mediations - where individuals are in dispute but are willing to try and work through their differences to find a mutually beneficial agreement.
I have access to consulting rooms in both Brighton and Hove: Church Road in Hove (BN3 2DJ) and Sandgate Road, Fiveways, Brighton (BN1) and am happy to try and meet in a venue suitable to you.
I am available Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 10pm, excluding Bank Holidays. I also have some availability on Saturdays, feel free to call me to discuss
