About Me
I know just how hard it can be to make that giant first step in coming to counselling...
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from Brighton University and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Sussex Counselling. I adhere to the BACP ethical codes and standards of practice
I offer humanistic counselling therapy from a person-centred theoretical basis. Which means as a therapist I will offer you acceptance, empathy, warmth and understanding and a place where you will not be judged. This will be true no matter what issues you choose to bring.
I currently practice in 2 counselling settings in the local community. One is NHS and the other a charitable service. In these roles I work with young people, vulnerable adults with a learning disability and carers. The varied life-experiences and problems such clients have brought to our sessions together has granted me invaluable understanding upon which to base my general practice.
I have experience of working with clients long-term as well as in short-term, more solution-focused, therapy.
I have worked for over 20 years in the public sector, including local authorities and the NHS, in various roles, including senior management and am aware of the stresses such work can bring. All my posts involved working with individuals often in distressing situations and difficult personal circumstances. I am also a trained mediation practitioner and have over 15 years experience of presenting cases in tribunals and 8 years of chairing conciliation meetings.
I have access to consulting rooms in both Brighton and Hove: Rutland Road, Poets Corner in Hove (BN3) and Sandgate Road, Fiveways, Brighton (BN1) and am happy to try and meet in a venue and at a time suitable to you.
